Martin Frost, who led the DCCC in the 1990s, complained in a POLITICO column this week that “most of the national press has been uncritically swallowing a steady diet of Republican propaganda: The race for the House is over the Republicans have already won.”
The data dump comes after allowing months of Republican polling to go unanswered and just weeks after multiple national polls - from ABC News and The Washington Post and from NBC and The Wall Street Journal - gave Republicans a strong lead on the generic ballot, and several top political handicappers predicted that Republicans would take control of the House.Įven as House Democrats shifted course and peppered the press with their versions of the campaign polling, party veterans groused that the GOP had taken control of the campaign narrative. “I think it says that before a ballot’s been cast, the Republicans have been celebrating prematurely,” she said.
